One of Scotland’s leading harpers, Karen Marshalsay released her critically acclaimed album, The Road to Kennacraig (Four Stars - The Scotsman) in June 2019. A master of all three Scottish harps -the warm-sounding modern gut-strung clarsach, its wire-strung Gaelic predecessor and the distinctive Bray harp - Karen currently plays in Irish music legend Cathal McConnell’s trio. She has also worked with Gaelic piping-singing authority, Allan MacDonald, appearing in his Herald Angel-winning concerts for Edinburgh International Festival, and her love of pipe music gives her playing superb richness. Great tunes and the entertaining stories behind them feature in an intimate concert.
