Stalking for deer in the remote Scottish wilderness, three brothers plot to put an end to their violent and abusive father, the man responsible for the recent death of their mother, Kate (Anita Vettesse). They are here to avenge her and put an end to the cycle of violence which has consumed their lives. They bury Don is a shallow grave and – shocked and relieved – make their way back home to their farmhouse. But what should be a new beginning could bring about their end.

They soon realise that the key to the family safe – containing their inheritance – is still around the neck of their father and they must venture back into the woods. There, in the desolate majesty of nature, they begin the gruesome task of digging up their dad. But when the grave is opened, Don isn’t there. In his place is the body of a freshly killed deer. Already weighed down by guilt and now stricken with fear, the boys begin to show their true natures – the traits they have inherited from their mother and the rage of their dad. And someone is now out there in the forest, hunting them…

Is Don really dead? Does affable cousin Miller (James Harkness) know more than he’s letting on? Or is one of the brothers betraying them all? The boys wrestle with their memories and we see what brought them to this desperate point, as day turns to night and their hope for freedom turns into a desperate struggle to survive.

We’re delighted that the director, Rodger Griffiths, will join us for a Q+A after the screening on Friday 4th October
