The Killers (1964)

  • Film

The same basic plot as the 1946 film, this time looking at the story from the viewpoint of the ageing hitman Charlie Strom - eager to find out why their victim didn't attempt to escape - and his psychopathic, hero-worshipping assistant. They're an unsympathetic pair, but utterly compelling in their ruthlessness. The movie defines the violent, complex persona that would make Marvin a star, and he's cast alongside the irresistibly alluring Angie Dickinson in the femme fatale role. Directed by Don Siegel, who directed 5 films with Clint Eastwood including the iconic Dirty Harry.
