We ‘re delighted to introduce and welcome to the team, Cassandra Wilson.
Cassie – great to have you join us. Can you tell us a bit about yourself and where you’re from?
G’day! I’m from Australia. I grew up performing in the arts, studied a Bachelor of Media Arts (Performing Arts) and went on to work for the Australian School of Performing Arts for several years managing and developing staff, venues and events. A lover of travel, I moved to snowy Canada working in guest, hospitality and event services at mountain resorts. Getting my fix for the arts through volunteer work, I sat on the Board of Directors for Invermere MusicFest and Stage Managed at Broadwick Live’s Snowbombing Festival. Fate brought me to Scotland where I have been working in events and communications in Edinburgh, Glasgow and now the Highlands.
What’s the biggest event you’ve worked on and what was your role?
The largest events I have worked on have been leading concerts and festivals. While working for the Australian School of Performing Arts, I ran major concerts for audiences of upwards of 1000. I also worked on the music festival circuit in Australia and Canada, becoming an artist and VIP liaison with some of the top performers on the international stage. Leading on a variety of event styles, I have always enjoyed adjusting my leadership qualities to different groups I work with. From being a nurturing and engaging caretaker for large groups of children to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for them to perform, answering parent and audience enquiries for a seamless front of house execution, supporting new and experienced staff in their roles to execute events with ease and dealing with high profile artists (and their demands!).
What’s your perfect day off?
A perfect day off for me would need to include sunshine, paddleboarding or snowboarding, family and friends, cheese, wine and live music.
Who is your favourite Aussie icon and why?
It has to be Hugh Jackman, I worked with him on his Broadway to Oz tour and he once gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek!
What three things would you take with you to a desert island?
My puppy Moose, a hammock and a case of champagne.
Did you watch the Neighbours finale?
I did watch it and I cried with laughter, who knew Neighbours was a comedy. The highlight for me was reminiscing about the songs from singers that starred in the show, Kylie Minogue’s ‘Light Years’ was my first CD album.
