Eden Court Highlands is Scotland’s largest single-site, award-winning arts venue, presenting and making work with, by and for the people of the Highlands and Islands and those who visit. Situated in a beautiful location on the River Ness in Inverness, Eden Court boasts two theatres - the 840-seat Empire and the 275-seat One Touch - two multi-purpose studios, two cinemas and three exhibition spaces, as well as a number of bars, a restaurant and a shop all within a three-century spanning heritage building of national importance.
Eden Court’s work is not confined to their building and reaches beyond the venue into communities, schools and the natural environment, providing arts and culture to the city, the Highlands and more broadly across the entire nation of Scotland and beyond.
The successful candidate will oversee the artistic programme of a unique multi-artform heritage building. Eden Court is home to all of Scotland’s national companies: National Theatre of Scotland, Scottish Ballet, Scottish Opera, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Across its two stages, two independent cinemas, two studios and stunning grounds, the venue programmes large-scale number one touring musicals, intimate gigs, world cinema and projects and programmes for the people of Inverness and the Highlands.
Following James Mackenzie-Blackman’s appointment as Chief Executive of the Theatre Royal Plymouth, the Board is seeking an exceptional new Chief Executive to provide inspirational leadership to Eden Court, ensuring strategic vision, financial resilience, artistic excellence, equality of opportunity, inclusion and long-term stability.
The successful candidate will be a proven leader in the cultural sector with experience of managing significant budgets and teams, the ability to balance artistic vision and innovation with commercial imperatives, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a genuine commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and the willingness to play an important role in the civic life of Inverness and beyond.
This is an exceptional role, at a pivotal moment in the organisation’s history.
