Quiet Areas
Our venue and Bishop's Palace buildings have two designated Quiet Areas. These are quieter areas, where anyone can work or relax without too much noise. Though these are designated spaces, they may be used by anyone and may not always be quiet – in such cases, feel free to speak to any Eden Court staff member and they will be able to help you find a more suitable space.
These Quiet Areas are also separate to our Quiet Spaces, which are designated rooms set up during Relaxed Performances to provide a fully quiet space equipped with comfortable seating, decreased lighting and free-to-use sensory items, such as fidget toys and noise-cancelling headphones.
Why are Quiet Areas needed?
Quiet Areas and Quiet Spaces are needed as some individuals may experience 'sensory overload' or hypersensitivity to stimuluses, particularly loud or disruptive noises. These can cause increased anxiety, fatigue or irritation. We want all visitors to our buildings to feel as comfortable as possible while they are here, whether they are watching a show or screening, meeting friends for a drink or food, or working.
How do I use a Quiet Area?
You are more than welcome to take a seat in one of our Quiet Areas any time you like. These areas are designated by green signage reading 'Quiet Area' at the top. If you would like to use a Quiet Area but are unsure where to find one, please feel free to ask an Eden Court staff member (who will either be wearing clothing with the Eden Court logo or wearing yellow Eden Court badges on lanyards) and they will be able to help you.
