We launched Eden Court's anniversary year celebrations with a bang on Saturday 4^th of April, as the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and Scottish Opera returned to the Empire stage almost fifty years to the day since they helped open the building on 15^th April 1976.

In a programme curated to honour the milestone, legendary American conductor Leonard Slatkin led the RSNO in the rarely-heard ‘Confluence’- a work composed by the late Highland-based composer William Wordsworth, commissioned specially for Eden Court's original 1976 opening gala. The evening also included Ravel's Don Quichotte à Dulcinée and Tzigane, followed by a triumphant closing performance of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No.5 by the 70-strong orchestra.
