Board of Directors
Eden Court's Board Members act as trustees of the charity, ensuring the organisation's mission and governance are upheld.
The Board of Directors is comprised of a diverse group of leaders, including four members from the Highland Council, one representative from the Federation of Theatre Unions, and one Eden Court Friends member selected through open recruitment. Additionally, five Board Members are appointed by the Directors following a public advertisement process. The Chief Executive of Eden Court also serves as a Director.
Miles Harrison (Chair)

Miles is a leadership and organisation development specialist working as an independent trainer, coach, mentor and facilitator. With nearly two decades of self-employed practice, he has built particular expertise in the public and not-for-profit sectors - delivering governance training for charities, strategic planning away days, and leadership development programmes. This has included ethical leadership education for senior Sri Lanka Police Service officers and tutoring at the Scottish Police College and University of Stirling.
His earlier career spans arts management and public sector development: from Marketing Manager at the Sherman Theatre and Theatr Clwyd, to Head of Arts Business Services at Yorkshire & Humberside Arts Board, to a move to Scotland in 1998 to join the Scottish Arts Council. There he redesigned and launched the Non-Capital Lottery Funding programmes before leading the SAC's Lottery-funded Advancement Programme - supporting organisations to achieve lasting positive change. He went on to serve as Programme Director at Common Purpose (2002–2006), where he opened and ran a new Mid Scotland office.
He brings extensive board-level experience across the arts sector, having served as Chair of Birds of Paradise Theatre Company for eight years, Chair of Macrobert Arts Centre in Stirling for five years and as a board director of Craft Scotland for six years.
Rebecca Holt (Chief Executive)

Rebecca is an arts venue leader who believes that creativity and culture are invaluable tools for helping us understand, celebrate and change the world around us. Rebecca joined Eden Court as Chief Executive in March 2022. Before this, she was Executive Director + Deputy CEO of Battersea Arts Centre, as well as a Trustee of Polka children’s theatre and a Director of the London Theatre Consortium.
Rebecca is proud to work in a sector that sparks people’s creativity, brings them joy and facilitates moments of connection with strangers.
Alasdair Christie

Alasdair Christie has worked at a senior level of management for over 30 years, primarily in the mechanical engineering industry. In addition, as a local councillor in Inverness he has many years of experience dealing with some of the issues facing local people including the complexities of delivering services across Highland. He is currently a non-executive Director of NHS Highland since 2017. In recent years he has been deputy leader of the Highland Council, Chair of the Community Planning Partnership Board and formerly Chair of the Committee which oversees Education, Social Work and Housing.
Mr Christie is currently general manager of the Inverness Badenoch and Strathspey Citizens Advice Bureau and a trustee of Culduthel Woods and is involved with several poverty alleviation initiatives.
Jane Donald

Jane Donald is the Director of External Relations for the Royal Scottish National Orchestra responsible for audience development, fundraising and communications. Jane has previously worked for Scottish Opera, the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and the Celtic Connections festival.
Jane has both professional and academic interests in the theory and practice of arts management and was proud to be a board member of the Arts Marketing Association for over a decade. In 2014, Jane was awarded a PhD in Organisation Studies from the University of St Andrews.
Jane believes the arts have the power to enhance lives. She is passionate about making cultural experiences more accessible for everyone.
Claire English

Claire has been developing and delivering projects for not-for-profit and public sector organisations across the UK since 2006 – from grass roots community and housing projects to national cultural charities and collections. A post-graduate apprenticeship in North-East England provided a basis in socially engaged arts and cultural regeneration which has informed Claire’s career in cultural, community and place based capital and built heritage projects.
Claire grew up just north of Inverness. After almost 20 years away spent primarily in Glasgow and London, Claire moved home whilst working on a capital campaign for Wasps Inverness Creative Academy. She continues to work in cultural development in the North of Scotland, and is delighted to have joined the board at Eden Court.
James Heaton (Trading Board)

James Heaton is Managing Director of sohoplace, London’s newest West End theatre.
He was the founding Chief Executive and Creative Director of Woolwich Works, a £41million arts and entertainment centre on London’s Royal Arsenal. Previously, he was Operations Director for the Nimax group of six West End theatres; Venue Director for The Guardian; Deputy Director of Operations for Camden’s Roundhouse; and the co-owner of two south-east London pubs.
He has served on the trading board of Battersea Arts Centre; as a Director of Visit Greenwich; and is a trustee of Wilton’s Music Hall and High House Production Park.
Emma Knox

Emma Knox is a Highland Councillor for Aird and Loch Ness Ward, and Peer Participation and Engagement Manager for Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland. Emma lives in Kirkhill, near Beauly, with her husband and rescue greyhound Lady Ada Lovelace the Second (“Ada”).
Before changing careers to work in the third sector and local government, Emma was a prosecution lawyer, including stints as the District Procurator Fiscal at Inverness and Head of Victims Policy at Crown Office. She took a sabbatical to sit the National Executive Committee of the FDA Trade Union as a full-time office bearer.
Emma is a keen amateur musician and plays many instruments including the piano, synthesiser, accordion, guitar and mandolin. Emma is an enthusiastic supporter of the arts, especially traditional music and theatre.
Fiona MacLeod

Fiona is an experienced business leader with over 30 years spent in the energy sector in Europe and beyond. Since graduating in Law from the University of Glasgow and qualifying as a solicitor, she has held senior leadership positions in commercial, finance and business development. Fiona is also a Board Member for Culture and Business Scotland.
Fiona has a passion for traditional music and dance, and is a Patron of Scottish Ballet. She passionately believes in the opportunities and joy engaging with the arts can bring to people of all ages and abilities.
Susan McIntosh

Susan McIntosh is Director of Finance and Commercial for the Edinburgh International Festival, responsible for financial planning, reporting and governance, as well as all back-office services.
Susan has had a varied career, working in both the private and third sectors, and for multinationals and startups. Her most recent role, prior to joining EIF in 2020 was as Director of Finance for the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Edinburgh.
Susan is passionate about the arts in all forms, and their power to bring people together and start conversations. She loves hiking and is a regular visitor to the Highlands.
Douglas McGill

Douglas McGill has been the Organising Official for the Trade Union Bectu (Broadcasting, Entertainment, Cinemas and Theatres Union), a sector of Prospect, covering Scotland since 2016.
Prior to that he started out as a community arts worker after graduating from the University of Glasgow in 1983, before moving to Scottish Opera where he had various roles over a 25 year period.
He has had a long standing commitment to the arts in Scotland for over 40 years.
Alan Nelson (Trading Board)

Alan Nelson is a retired Chartered Accountant with a distinguished career spanning several decades. After qualifying in Dundee, Alan relocated to Inverness in 1975, where he became a partner at Scott Oswald in 1980. Throughout his career, he has brought a wealth of financial expertise to the organisations he has served.
Alan has been actively involved in the charitable sector for many years, contributing his time and leadership to various causes. Notably, he chaired the fundraising committee responsible for the successful rebuilding of the hospice, a project he remains particularly proud of.
Morven Reid

Morven is a registered childminder with specialist experience supporting children with additional and complex health needs. Originally from the West Coast village of Glenelg, she has lived in Inverness since 1993.
Alongside her childcare work, Morven serves as a Highland Councillor for Culloden & Ardersier and is the Strategic Vice-Chair for Corporate Resources. She contributes to a wide range of boards and committees, including Health, Wellbeing & Social Work, the South Planning Applications Committee (SPAC), Nigg Skills Academy, the Inverness Common Good Fund, and Highland Disability Sport. She also holds the role of Depute Provost of Inverness City and Area and is the City’s Armed Forces and Veterans Representative.
A strong advocate for the arts, Morven is the former Chair of Inverness Musical Theatre. She passionately believes that opportunities to participate in theatre, music, and drama are vital to community life and individual wellbeing.
Tony Story (Trading Board)

Tony Story has been the leading visionary behind the Kingsmills Hotel Group, consisting of the Kingsmills Hotel and five-star Ness Walk in Scotland. The Kingsmills Hotel returned into private ownership in 2007 and since then has been on a transformational journey. The addition of the Kingsclub and Spa came in 2010 and a conference and events centre in 2014. The following year, the Garden rooms were unveiled, bringing the total number of rooms in the hotel to 147. Tony is Co-Chair of the board of Visit Inverness Loch Ness and recently awarded Ambassador of the Year at the Highlands & Islands Thistle Awards.
Ness Walk opened in 2019 and quickly became a five-star destination hotel on the Inverness riverside. The Kingsmills Hotel and Ness Walk have gone on to earn an enviable reputation internationally with multiple award wins. Beyond the operations of the hotel, Tony spearheads much of the Kingsmills Group’s fundraising initiatives and holds a passion for supporting the local community through nominated local charities.
