Fifty years ago, the curtain rose at Eden Court for the first time, with Mozart’s The Magic Flute among the opening night music. Opera has never been far from its stage since. This special evening celebrates opera in all its colour, drama, and humanity, with a distinctly Scottish heart.

Presented by much-loved broadcaster and tenor Jamie MacDougall and with the full forces of The Orchestra of Scottish Opera, the evening brings together some of opera's most beloved moments alongside works by and for women that deserve far wider audiences. From the soaring power of Missy Mazzoli’s Breaking the Waves to iconic arias from Carmen, Madama Butterfly, and The Magic Flute, this is opera at its most vivid. As a special treat, Jamie also performs a collection of irresistible songs popularised by Harry Lauder.
