PORNO started out as a fifty minute one act, with a sold out run at the Pleasance as part of the Edinburgh Fringe ’22.
The two hour full length version has since had two sold out runs at the Glasgow King’s, before going on to a UK wide tour, culminating in a 7 week sold out run at the Art’s Theatre in LONDON’s WEST END where it was nominated as BEST NEW PLAY in the What’s On Stage Awards.
Irvine Welsh – Porno at the Arts Theatre in Leicester Square is very good. It’s very good indeed. In fact it’s fucking great. I urge you to see it.
The characterisation of Welsh’s cast of crazy personas is phenomenal. Jenni Duffy’s Lizzie is salacious but brings the heart where it is needed when she delves into the dark hole of body image problems
Tom Carter’s racist, homophobic police constable Knox is an ironic delight, while his daughter Lizzie, played by Jenni Duffy with a carnal gusto that puts the men to shame, is quite something to watch.
The time flew by in this fast paced exhilarating show with plenty of dark humour and some poignant scenes too. I love these characters so much and the cast did a wonderful job Chris Gavin was menacing as Begbie, Kevin Murphy was the loveable Spud & Jenni Duffy was exceptional as cops’ daughter Lizzie.
