Fun Palaces are about sharing skills and making local connections, which is perfect for a time when connecting has been made a little bit more difficult.
This year, in response to Covid-19, we are encouraging extra-small, hyper-local Fun Palaces this October – family-sized in folk’s homes, maybe sharing skills between the generations – or Digital Fun Palaces - and we aim to reach 1,000 Tiny Fun Palaces in total.
We’d love to invite you to think about what this could mean for you and your families, organisation or group.
Can you share a skill or a talent? Chances are you’ve been doing this already, and here’s a way you could celebrate this and share it further. If you’re struggling for ideas, here are a few:
- Share a story, a memory, a joke, or a song.
- Share how to craft or Minecraft
- Play a game together

We’ve all got areas of expertise and secret skills, can you share one of yours?
And do check out the Fun Palaces website for more ideas.
Once you’ve decided what your Along the Road, Across the Regions moment of connection might be, set a time and a date and go for it. Then take a photograph, or video to capture the moment and to share that with us, along with your postcode, so we can add it to the Fun Palaces map.
We’ve joined forces with our theatre neighbours along the road at Perth Horsecross Arts with an ambitious plan to map the route between Eden Court and Perth Theatre.
We’re looking to add as many pin-points to the Fun Palaces map as possible, and if you live anywhere on the route from Inverness to Perth we’d love to encourage you, in particular, to take part!
That means Inverness, Tomatin, Aviemore, Kingussie, Dalwhinnie, Blair Atholl, Pitlochry, Dunkeld, Bankfoot and Perth; we need you!

Deveron Arts are making a Fun Palace at the Huntly Farmers' Market.
You can be added to the Fun Palaces map by emailing your photo or video along with your postcode, and a sentence telling us about your Along the Road, Across the Regions moment of connection.
Of course, we’d encourage you to share your moments of connection on social media too:
#FUNPALACES | @FunPalaces | @edencourt
We really can’t wait to see you all in and around our beautiful building soon, but in the meantime we hope you’ll continue finding meaningful moments to connect with the people around you.
