Marta is Catering Supervisor and has been working in the restaurant at Eden Court for almost 8 years! She really enjoys looking after the bar and restaurant and making sure it all runs smoothly, but admits that it can get really stressful at busy times. Nevertheless she loves the challenge.
Nothing is more satisfying than making sure all of our guests receive excellent service in the restaurant before they go to enjoy a show.
What do you love the most about your job?
I love that there's always something going on and no day is the same. It’s such a positive team and so many lovely customers, some of them I know very well, some are here for the first time, but it is always great to be among so many interesting people.
Do you prefer sweet or savoury? And what’s your favourite dish?
Definitely sweet! I never say no to a dessert or cake and I'm not fussy what kind. But my favourite dish would have to be traditional Polish pierogi-dumplings with a sweet filling. I always make about 70 of them for Christmas. Everybody should try them if they want to discover flavours from my home country.
What’s your most memorable moment?
My most memorable moment from working here has got to be my first Christmas at Eden Court. Panto had just started, I was working in the restaurant and still learning to speak English. On top of all of that Eden Court is a massive venue, so I was feeling a little nervous.
During one of my shifts, a lovely family took a moment to ask me about my Christmas and they were very patient and kind as I was still learning. When I went to tidy their table I spotted a letter, it was from the two wee girls saying thank you and wishing me a nice Christmas. I still have it and think of them! I can't wait until the panto is here again - it's Beauty & The Beast this year.
What's the best show you've seen in the last year?
It has got to be the Scottish Ballet's Cinderella. It was a truly magical show for big and little ones alike. It was beautifully done and every detail in their costumes were perfect. I love the scenography and dance and I’m really looking forward seeing their next performance of The Crucible in October.
It was great catching up with Marta and getting to know her a little more. Make sure you say hi to Marta when you’re in the café or restaurant for some food and drinks.
