What is The Dome? Ruari Gordon, Eden Court's Fun Palaces Ambassador, has the answer...
The Dome is an innovative, pop-up structure designed to provide a flexible and versatile space for a wide range of community activities. It is a unique venue, which can be used for anything from workshops and talks to community-led creative events. The structure is fully weather-proof and can accommodate up to 20 people at a time, making it an ideal space for intimate gatherings or smaller-scale events.
The space will be welcoming and inclusive to all, and will pop up alongside Eden Court’s exciting Under Canvas festival throughout July and August. A series of Fun Palaces events will take place in the space, as well as some really exciting takeovers by a variety of groups and organisations from Inverness, the Highlands and beyond. From open arts sessions and climate workshops to community gatherings and performances, The Dome will bring folk together to shine a light on and celebrate our shared cultural landscape.
In addition to appearing at Under Canvas, The Dome will be travelling to other events throughout the Highlands. This means that communities across the region will have the opportunity to get involved with the Fun Palaces campaign, and utilise the space in a way that is useful and meaningful for them, with the support of Eden Court’s Fun Palaces Ambassador.
The Dome's portability is a key feature of the structure, allowing it to be transported to different locations and set up quickly and easily. This will help to extend the reach of the space and provide more people with the opportunity to participate in community-led activities.
If you or your group would like to use this space at Under Canvas or elsewhere, or if you’d simply like to find out more about the The Dome or the wider Fun Palaces campaign, please contact Ruari on funpalaces@eden-court.co.uk.
