Having welcomed over 5500 festivalgoers to the Under Canvas tent so far this summer, we caught up with some of the Fraser Elite team to learn more about the Stage Sponsor making it all possible.
In their second year as Under Canvas Stage Sponsor, Inverness-based personal care provider Fraser Elite is playing a key role in supporting our summer festival - helping Eden Court give a stage to over 200 talented musicians during eight packed weeks of events.
Fraser Elite founders, husband and wife team Ron and Julie, aim to offer others the care they’d give their own loved ones. As keen music lovers, they also encourage their team and those they support to get involved in the Under Canvas fun.
We caught up with Dianne and Rachel from the Fraser Elite team to find out more about their day before they join us in the tent.
Dianne has a lifetime of experience in the care sector.
I started off a long time ago - I’m not saying how many years! - as a nurse in Edinburgh. Since then I’ve worked in many roles from nursing to managing care homes. Now I’m delivering SQA qualifications and supporting professional development. I’m here to make sure our team have all the knowledge and skills they need, and I’m on hand for ongoing support too. I absolutely love it.
Rachel is one of those Dianne trained and now she is relishing her role as a carer. Up with the lark, Rachel’s day starts with morning visits and getting folk ready for the day. She loves being the bright face that starts someone's day, whether they need help with breakfast, getting washed and dressed, or even making a cup of tea and having a blether.
While artists are arriving at Eden Court, getting settled in the Green Room and sound checking with the tech crew, Dianne is working on roleplay scenarios with her SVQ candidates and Rachel is out on lunch visits.
“At lunchtime, we might head out to a café or for a walk," Rachel says. "One of the people I work with is in his nineties and has poor eyesight. He is still able to be active, but couldn’t get out alone, so being around means he can take a walk. It helps him stay independent and continue doing the things he enjoys. It’s so rewarding to make that difference in someone's life."
As afternoon sessions start on the Under Canvas stage, some of the Fraser Elite team and those they support head to Eden Court's lawn for the performance.
Dianne was at Under Canvas on Sunday with her husband, who she took along in his wheelchair. "It was so good and we thoroughly enjoyed the music. My husband even had a wee nip of Tomatin Whisky on ice so he was very happy indeed! It’s brilliant having the festival on our doorstep with local musicians, especially knowing Fraser Elite is part of it."
