Nick Fearne
(he/him)Just Act TutorIn the distant past Nick was a teacher before running away to the theatre - he worked at Cumbernauld Theatre for three years before pursuing a career as a freelance writer and director of community theatre across Scotland and in England. He has written and directed touring theatre, youth theatre, TIE, Christmas shows and community plays. Nick continues to write and director, and work on a freelance basis on community focused projects. During the Covid pandemic he and Dingwall Players staged site specific A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Treasure Island outdoors at Foulis Storehouse and A Highland Nativity, based on the Medieval Mystery Plays and staged in Dingwall Auction Mart complete with a donkey, Shetland pony and two pygmy goats! Nick has also mounted productions at the Edinburgh Fringe. He is LAMDA tutor for TFX Perform and he is one of the organisers of Dingwall’s Word on the Street Festival. Nick was Co-ordinator of Cromarty Film Festival for two years and General Manager of plan B Dance for three years. He has been Arts Development Officer with three local authorities where he established teams of artists in residence, a drama programme in Peterhead Prison, oversaw the development of Invergordon Town Hall to Invergordon Arts Centre where he mounted three professional Christmas shows. With Moray Council he hosted two visits by the Royal Shakespeare Company and commissioned the National Theatre of Scotland to present The Elgin Macbeth in the ruins of Elgin Cathedral as part of Moray’s Highland 2007 programme. Nick was also Director of the Aberdeen Alternative Festival where he programmed three festivals. He has served on SAC Drama Committee and as a Specialist Advisor to SAC and Creative Scotland. Nick has appeared in Taggart and Take the High Road – for those that can remember!
