Thairis air an ath mhios cuiridh sinn fàilte air trì thaisbeanadh a tha a’ riochdachadh Gàidhlig agus cultar nan Gàidheil ann an diofar dhòighean agus tro diofar cruthan ealain. Bidh ceòl, dannsa agus tèatar againn a tha a’fighe traidisean agus eachdraidh ri chèile le modh agus stoidhle co-aimsireil.
Sian Album Launch
Tha sinne aig Eden Court a-nis a’sealltainn ris an t-samhraidh agus Under Canvas, far an comharraich sinn Gàdhlig agus cultar dhualchasach mar phàirt den fhèis sonraichte a tha seo. ‘S an eadar-ama tha ceòl traidiseanta air leth ri chluinntinn taobh a-staigh an togalach. An toiseach, tha Sian a’cuir air bhog clàr ùr aig cuirm ann an Seòmar MhicIllEathainn.
Air an oidhche ro Latha Eadar-nàiseanta nam Ban bidh guthan boireann am follais gu laidir, an dà chuid tro guthan an còmhlan agus tro na h-òrain fhèin. Bhon a thoisich an triur a’seinn còmhla tha ùidh sonraichte air a bhith aca ann an òrain le bana-bhàird agus iad a’toirt dhaibh beatha ùr leis an co-sheirm àlainn aca.
Le iomadh duais eatorra, tha fèill mhòr air Eilidh Cormack, Ellen Macdonald agus Ceitlin Lilidh agus bidh an clàr seo gun sonraichte teagamh. Ma tha sibh airson a bhith am measg an luchd-amhairc Inbhir Nis, a gheibh a chiad chothrom an cuairt seo fhaicinn, thigibh ann!
Thacuirm Sian a’ gabhailàite air Disathairne 7mh den Mhàirtaig 8f. Tiocaidean an seo.
Endling
Tha seinneadar Gàidhlig cliùiteach eile, Gillebride MacMillan, an sàs anns an taisbeanadh seo, far a bheil cultar nan Gàidheil Albannach agus Eireannach a’tighinn còmhla. Tha guthan agus gluasad cuideachd a’tighinn còmhla anns an obair dannsa co-aimsireil seo, le coireògrafaiche Rob Heaslip.
Ged a tha an stoidhle fhèin ùr agus beothail, bha buaidh mhòr aig seann chleachdaidhean agus dualchas Gàidhealach air obair Rob, gu h-àraidh mar a bhithear a comharrachadh bàs. Bidh sinn tric a’seachnadh còmhraidhean mun chuspair dorcha a tha seo, ach tha Endling ga shoillseachadh ann an dòigh ùr.
As deidh prìomh-thaisbeanadh aig fèis eadar-nàiseanta Ghlaschu, DIG, an uiridh, tha Endling a toiseachadh cuairt Albannach aig Eden Court air a mhios seo.
Tha Endling ri fhaicinn air Dihaoine 13mh agus Disathairne 14mh den Mhàirt aig 8f. Tiocaidean an seo.
MAIM
Bha ceangal dlùth a-riamh aig dòigh-beatha nan Gàidheil ris an talamh agus ri nàdar, na dearbh rudan a tha a-nis air ais air ar n-aire am measg èiginn na gnàth-shìde. Ach tha coimeas ann eadar staid na h-àrainneachd agus staid na Gàidhlig agus tha an taisbeanadh a’ beachdachadh air an dà chuid.
Nuair a tha duiligheadasan air ar beulaibh tha freagairtean luchd-ealain an còmhnaidh cudromach. An seo tha stiùiriche Muireann Kelly a’cleachdadh ceòl, gluasad, bhidio, rannsachadh air ainmean-àite agus tèatar airson ciall a tharraing a-mach a suidheachadh do-chreidsinneach.
Tha an riochdachadh as ùire aig Theatre Gu Leòr na co-obrachadh le còmhlan electronica WHYTE agus Jessica Kennedy bho Junk Ensemble. Bidh e na measgachadh neartmhòr de stoidhlichean an trì bhuidhean a bheir oirnn smaoineachadh mun suidheachadh anns a bheil sinn.
Tha MAIM aig Eden Court air Diardaoin 19mh den Mhàirt aig 7f. Tiocaidean an seo.
Over the next month we’ll welcome three performances that represent Gaelic language and culture in different ways and through different art forms. There will be music, dance and theatre that all weave heritage and history together with contemporary aesthetics.
Sian Album Launch
Here at Eden Court, we’re looking towards the summer and to the return of Under Canvas, where we’ll be celebrating Gaelic and traditional culture as part of this special festival. In the run up we’ve got some exceptional traditional music inside the building. First up, Sian launch their debut album in an intimate concert in the McLean Room.
On the eve of International’s Women’s Day, women’s voices will be front and centre in this concert, both the voices of the three singers and those of the female bards at the heart of their repertoire. Since they came together the band have focussed on Gaelic songs written by women and on giving them a new platform.
With many awards between them, Eilidh Cormack, Ellen Macdonald and Ceitlin Lilidh are highly regarded musicians and their debut album will undoubtedly be worth adding to the collection. They kick off their tour with us in Inverness, so come and join us for an evening of beautiful music.
Sian Album Launch takes place on Saturday 7th March at 8pm. Buy tickets here <with link>.
Endling
Another esteemed Gaelic singer, Gillebride MacMillan, will appear in this performance, where Irish and Scottish culture meet. Voice and movement also combine in this piece of contemporary dance by choreographer Rob Heaslip.
Although the style itself is contemporary and full of life, it is heavily influenced by old customs and Gaelic heritage, particularly how death was marked and ritualised. In modern culture this taboo subject is seen darkly, but Endling shines a new light on it.
After premiering at Glasgow’s international dance festival, DIG, Endling starts a Scottish tour at Eden Court later this month.
Endling takes place on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th March at 8pm. Buy tickets here <with link>.
MAIM
There was always a close relationship between the Gaels’ way of life and the land that surrounded them. The landscape and nature are back at the forefront of our minds now, in the midst of the climate crisis, but there are also clear parallels between the environmental situation and the crisis that faces the Gaelic language and this production tackles both.
When society is faced with such grave difficulties, artistic responses are always important. Director Muireann Kelly uses music, physicality, video design, place name research and theatre to attempt to make meaning from a senseless situation.
Theatre Gu Leòr’s latest production is a collaboration with electronica band WHYTE and Jessica Kennedy of Junk Ensemble. It promises to be a powerful fusion of their styles, which will leave us thinking about our current situation.
MAIM is on at Eden Court on Thursday 19th March at 7pm. Buy tickets here.
