With new additions and returning favourites, there are classes for everyone in our new Studio Programme season! Morag Russell, Eden Court's Engagement Programme Co-ordinator, shares her excitement for the new programme of studio classes.
Well, I can officially say I’ve made it to my one-year mark working as part of the Engagement Team here at Eden Court and what a year it’s been! I’ve met a lot of incredible people who've come along to our classes, supported our showcase week or joined us for our summer programme. In addition to getting to know the Engagement Team, I’ve been delighted to get to know all of our freelance artists and practitioners who help to deliver wonderful projects and classes.
We’re super excited to launch a new block of classes as we start the new academic year. We have new freelancers joining us, new class options and new projects on offer for those taking part in our various programmes!
So, what's on offer for you this term? We'll see the return of our Eden Court Youth Theatre, Youth Dance and Youth Film classes after a phenomenal showcase week in June; the bar is set high for the new year! I'm happy to confirm the rumours are true, we have Musical Theatre back this term where we’ll work towards a production of Honk in 2023!
In addition to new youth classes, we have new classes for adults who are interested in expressing themselves through various mediums. See our Just Sing, Just Act and Just Dance classes for more information – these are open to all abilities and confidence levels.
For those a little more confident in dance, we have Jazz and Contemporary back too, in addition to a new Adults Performance Group. We’ll also have Elevate hitting our Empire stage in October, celebrating the diverse talent of dancers in the Highlands. If you’d like to be a part of this, join our Community Dance Company on select Sundays.
Continuing online (with face-to-face sessions later in the year) our Queer Youth Arts Collective is a welcoming and open space for young, queer people to chat, create and feel part of a community. Horizons, I Heart Drama, Dance for Parkinson’s and Gracenotes are also continuing into the new term. Our young Highland creatives aged 18 - 30 in Eden Court Collective are back together to work on a new project utilising all the skills in this group of performers, writers, producers and more. Come and find out what all the buzz is about on a Pay What You Can basis.
Additionally, we’re delighted to be able to offer a Pay It Forward option this year when purchasing your class place. This gives you the option to add £1 per week to the cost of your ticket to help us continue to offer all of these exciting classes, projects and opportunities to those who may face additional barriers to participation, or to host fun open days so you can find out more about what we do. We recently had a great Youth Film Open Day where those who attended were lucky enough to get a nosey around backstage, our cinemas and digi room. We hope donations will assist us in putting on more opportunities like this.
That’s enough from me for now but I’m happy to chat about any of our classes anytime - just drop me a line! We hope you will help us get the new academic year off to a great start and I cannot wait to see you all very soon!
